Time

It’s been a long time since I wrote here. Life has been hectic. I’m on various committees. They are usually simple but occasionally throw a curve ball. Can’t say a lot but one of them may end up by involving the police in something. Naturally that has taken some time and concentration. I’m also plugging on with the PhD. Four chapters in first draft. Feedback looking better. Still much to do. So that’s the catch up.

Meanwhile out in the garden the food is growing. I’ve lost some to slugs as per but I really don’t mind

The front ‘lawn’ is gradually being transformed into a wild life paradise. We had three or four different varieties of bumblebee yesterday not to mention crickets. Yes, actual real.life crickets. There’s a large clover patch where there used to be gravel and we have begun to place sprawling herbs into the grasses area in the firm belief that the insect life will prefer it. The thyme is taking root nicely and is in full flower.

Blackcurrant bush.

Things that need doing. The large bushes under the window Need a severe trim as usual. I always let them flower before cutting them back. There are yet more gooseberries. I’ve had two lots already. Very few blackcurrants this year though. I suspected I’d cut them back too hard last year. Ho him. Spuds and peas are flowering

Carrot and beetroot harvest will be less than I hoped as this is where the slugfest has taken place. I put sunflowers in. Never tried that before. They seem to be doing ok but growing a bit slowly. So far, squirrel one us three, on strawberry watch.

In other news I did get a day off to take a street photography course. Amazing day and I learned a lot from the tutors and my fellow students. Nice to see Liverpool through fresh eyes.

Liver Building and a lamppost

The next months will involve more writing of PhD: more growing of food: more taking of photos. Hopefully I’ll remember to write some.mor where too.
